Ocean Reef Lions Club

The club was formed in 1992 by 10 Lioness'. Two of these very hard working Lioness's recruited another 13 people to form the Lions Club and Chartered with 23 members. Whitford Lions Club was the sponsoring club and Ric Sullivan the Guiding Lion.

At this time all of the members were women, very unique when you go back in history and note that it was an all Mens Club and no women were welcome. It was great to see that they eventually welcomed Women into their clubs. Although somewhat unique, like any organisation we need a balance and it was with pleasure that the Ocean Reef Lions Club welcomed their first male into the club.

John along with his pregant wife joined approximately 6 years ago and now have two boys and are very active members.

We now have 30 members and there are approx 10 males who have braved the majority of the female run club.

We have had representation on Cabinet and at most Conventions.Amongst our activites are the old favorites,

Cash for Cans situated at the Currambine Shopping Centre on Marmion Ave. We have three Lions waiting enthusiastically every Saturday morning from 8.30am - 12 noon, for the public to bring all their aluminium cans. At present the payout to the public is 0.60 a kg. All donations are welcome and the funds go back out to the community.

Friday nights are Bingo night at the Whitford Senior Citizens run in conjuction with the Whitford Lions. We provide cups of tea/coffee for a fee.(of course)Other fundraising activities are
